At the end of this book we would like the reader to feel with us the open dimension of every consciousness. My final prayer: O my body, always make me a man who questions!

-- Frantz Fanon, from "Black Skin, White Masks"

It came to our immediate attention at the start of our doctoral training how the perspectives of psychoanalysts of color are sequestered to the “diversity course” — and are not integrated into the entire curriculum. There is a large and growing literature by psychoanalysts of color, and by LGBT analysts, but none of it has been made a part of the psychoanalytic canon.

In an effort to make much needed progress on this issue, we have presented the following reading lists to the faculty at our own program.  We are also making these lists available to the public here, so that patients, trainee-clinicians, licensed therapists, clinic directors, and everyone can have access to them.  We hope these readings can contribute to conversations about power and politics in the consulting room.
